Sri Lanka top group A with third consecutive win

Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in their final group stage match of the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals worked off at the P. Sara Oval today(12).

Zimbabwe could muster only 108 all out with Shadreck Tapiwa top scoring with 23 after they won the toss and decided to bat first.

Koshan Jayawickrama and Geshan Wimaladharma picked up two wickets apiece while Manoj Sarathchandra who was named man of the match in the previous game for his wicket keeping, rolled his arm over to chip in with two wickets.

Sri Lanka hardly had any trouble in their run chase with their skipper Dinuk Wickramanayake batting through the innings making an unbeaten 31*. The highlight of their batting innings though was a whirlwind knock of 30 off just 11 balls by former Thomian batsman Thilaksha Sumanasiri who hit the Zimbabwean bowlers to all parts of the ground.

Sri Lanka topped group A after making it three out of three wins and will play their semifinal on Friday at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
