Sri-Lanka Celebrating 19th Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship

Sri Lanka defeated Qatar in an enthralling 5-sets game in a pool G classification match at the 19th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Sri Lanka were grouped in pool G for the 9th-16th places battle after losing all three of their preliminary pool C matches.

Sri Lanka lose to Vietnam in a thriller

Sri Lanka lost to Vietnam in a 5-set thriller in their final pool C match at the 19th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Sri Lanka, as they did against Vietnam went into a deciding 5th set but this time managed to come out on the winning side with the scores reading 19-25, 26-24, 25-20, 23-25 & 15-12.

Sri Lanka desperately needed this win and it will certainly boost their confidence as the world ranked 77th defeated world ranked 36th. Qatar finished 4th in last year’s competition while Sri Lanka could only muster a 13th place finish.

Sri Lanka were once again slow starters losing the 1st set but went onto win the next two after edging out Qatar in a closely contested 2nd set which read 26-24. Qatar won the 4th set but Sri Lanka bagged the win with a three-point margin in the 5th.

Sri Lanka will need to win their next game against Saudi Arabia if they are to have any hopes of finishing between 9th-12th places.
