Following the ruling given by Sri Lanka Rugby to the referees society, restraining them from officiating schools rugby matches, the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association has responded stating that there will be no interruption to the ongoing tournaments. 

“The school matches will continue. We as the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association will continue our matches as planned” added President Ranjith Chandrasekara commenting on the incident. 

“If there is a discussion, we are willing to meet and discuss the issue with SLR but the matches will go ahead”

Earlier this week, Sri Lanka Rugby in an email addressed to the Sri Lanka Rugby Referees Society (SLRRS) informed them not to appoint referees for the ongoing tournaments of the schools teams following the incidents that took place in the past month.

However, the two sporting bodies are set to meet this evening and try to formulate a strategy to find a mutually acceptable solution.
