Sachin Dias and Buwaneka Goonethillake faced off against this year’s Men’s Doubles World Champions from China, Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen in their quarterfinal clash. Little was expected of the youngsters, as the champs made easy work of the Lankan pair in just over 20 minutes, in straight sets.

Final scores read 21/12, 21/15 in favour of the Chinese, who with this win, will advance to the semifinals of the Men’s Doubles event.

This was Sri Lanka’s final hope of advancing in the Badminton events at this year’s Asian Games, with all other competitors failing to go past the Round of 16 in the Women’s and Men’s Singles events.
