Colombo District cruised to a comprehensive 72 run win over Kegalle District to clinch the SLC Districts One Day Tournament which concluded today.

Kegalle District skipper Ishan Jayaratne won the toss and put the opposition in on a good looking batting surface to the surprise of many at the P Sara Oval in Colombo. Dilshan Munaweera and Malindu Maduranga raced off the block for Colombo District as Munaweera struck ten fours in an entertaining knock of 47 while Maduranga gave good support chipping in with 41.

It was the axed Sri Lankan batsman Ashan Priyanjana’s show from then on as the skipper of Colombo District led the batting effort with a swashbuckling century. He hit 9 fours and 2 sixes before eventually being dismissed in the final over off their innings for 107 off just 98 balls.

Star Sri Lankan batsman Kusal Mendis fresh from a half century against Bangladesh yesterday, returned to represent Colombo District making a valuable 34 runs as they ended with an impressive 295/6 in their allotted 50 overs.

In reply, Kegalle District lost three quick wickets but a 121 run partnership for the fourth wicket between Angelo Jayasinghe and Vishad Randika gave them a slight chance as both batsmen made half centuries.
