Tajikistan breaks Lankan resistance

Tajikistan proved to be too good as 2nd half goals helped them to secure a 6-0 win in a group B match in the 2018 AFC U19 Championship Qualifiers at the Republican Central Stadium, Dushanbe Tajikistan.

Sri Lanka put on a much better defensive performance than their match against Uzbekistan, where they conceded 10 goals, but the resistance was broken in the final 15 minutes where the hosts scored four goals.

Held 0-0 by Bangladesh in their first match, Tajikistan made no mistakes this time around as they went in search of goals from the start. Goals eluded the hosts for half an hour where Sri Lanka put on an admirable defensive shift.

However, it was broken in the 31st minute where Abdulloev Athamjon scored the first and two minutes later slotted in a penalty as they went into half time 2-0 up.

In the 2nd half as well, the hosts found it hard to penetrate the stubborn Lankan defense. It took them until the 75th minute to score the 3rd goal.

Sharipov Umarjon added the 3rd and four minutes later Yodgorov Daler made it 4-0. The energy sapping defensive work took its toll on the players late in the game with Samiev Shahrom scoring the 5th and Athamjon completing his hat-trick.
