MAS Holdings was crowned the “Grand Slam” champions at the recently concluded Inter-Firm Doubles Badminton Championship finals, held on the 29th of July at the Mercantile Badminton Association courts.

The tournament started its 8th edition on the 21st of July with 60 teams from 44 companies participating. Lining Flex Sportswear Pvt. Ltd partnered with the Mercantile Badminton Association as event sponsors.

Over 50 national players played for their respective companies; a total of 493 male and 186 female players took part, making it one of the biggest entries seen in the tournament’s history.

MAS Holdings ‘A’ impressed yet again in the mercantile sporting arena, winning the highest honour the tournament offered, the “Grand Slam” Championship trophy in both the Group standings as well as the Final standings. MAS Holdings (Bodyline) also claimed the Novices Group championship defeating Allianz Finance in the final.

The Overall Grand Slam DSI Samson Group Challenge Trophy was rightfully claimed by MAS ‘A’. The Sumith Guruge Challenge Trophy in the Cup category was awarded to Brandix ‘A’ who beat Dialog ‘A’ 3/2 in the final.

The E-Wis challenge trophy in the Plate category went to McLarens Holdings ‘C’ team in a 3/1 win over Hayleys. McLarens also took home the McLarens Challenge trophy in the Bowl category after a 3/1 win against Sri Lanka Airlines.

The Mercantile Badminton Association Challenge trophy awarded in the Novices category was claimed by Abans Pvt.Ltd after a whitewash 3/0 win over DFCC Bank.\

Carrying the hopes of the nation at Asian Games
