Malaysia defeated Kenya to emerge champions while Sri Lanka finished in 3rd place beating Sri Lanka Youth on the final day of the Quadrangular Netball Tournament 2019 played at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.

Kenya vs Malaysia

Malaysia won the Quadrangular Netball Tournament 2019, 47-42 after a tight tussle against Kenya.

Malaysia started the 1st quarter well taking a 2-point lead and increasing it to 4. After threatening to lead by 6, which the Kenyans thwarted, the Malaysians finished the quarter 14-10 ahead.

Both teams committed turnovers in the 2nd quarter and Malaysia looked to increase the lead, but Kenya once again fought back hard to win the quarter 11-12 to be down just by three points at half time. (25-22)

In the early minutes of the 3rd quarter both teams turned over the ball multiple times due to offensive and defensive mistakes. Kenya made it 28-30 but missed an opportunity, after a turnover, to make it a one-point game. They did however manage to end the quarter 32-30, setting up a thrilling final quarter.

However, Malaysia made it a 4-point lead at 35-31 and increased it to 5 with the scores reading 38-33. There was no comeback from the Kenyans as the final ended 47-42.

Sri Lanka vs Sri Lanka Youth

Sri Lanka defeated Sri Lanka Youth convincingly 82-16 to finish in 3rd place.

Both teams started off the 3rd place playoff with their secondary teams as Sri Lanka took a 16-4 lead to end the 1st quarter. It was much of the same in the 2nd quarter as Sri Lanka outscored the Youth 18-3 to go into half time 34-7.

Sri Lanka stepped up the game in the 3rd & 4th quarters with Darshika Abeywickrama coming in as Goal Shooter. They scored 22 and 26-points respectively in those two quarters while only allowing the Juniors four and five points in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
