Four matches of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Major League Super 8s Tournament began today (31).

BRC vs Saracens

The pace bowling duo of Ranitha Liyanarachchi and Mohomed Dilshad ran through the BRC top order to bowl them out for a paltry 168.

Right arm seamer Liyanarachchi captured three wickets while left arm quick Dilshad bowled a hostile spell to capture two wickets for Saracens SC. The only man to put up some resistance for BRC was Vikum Sanjaya, who’s more known for his bowling as he hit his way to 34 runs in quick time.

The Saracens reply didn’t go according to plan as TM Sampath and Vikum Sanjaya picked up two wickets apiece to reduce them to 50/4 at close.

SSC vs NCC

SSC resisted a brilliant spell from Lasith Embuldeniya to end day one on 335/8, with Milinda Siriwardena, Dasun Shanaka and Charith Akalanka making half centuries.

Embuldeniya went on to capture 5/81 but he hardly got any support from the other bowlers as NCC toiled hard throughout the day. Embuldeniya’s season tally moved up to 46 wickets with five 5 wicket hauls under his belt already.

Isuru Udana also bowled an impressive opening spell capturing three wickets as Colts reached 156/8 at stumps when bad light interrupted play. Pasindu Lakshanka top scored with 37 while the in-form Priyamal Perera remained unbeaten on 22*.
