Chilaw Marians vs Bloomfield

Chilaw Marians took the upper hand on day 1 as they had Bloomfield struggling at 73 for 4 on stumps at Bloomfield grounds. Chillaw Marians batted first and posted 291 all out in just 60.5 overs. Shehan Jayasuriya scored a brisk 49 and he got good support from Mahela Udawatte who scored 38. A century run stand for the 9th wicket between Maduka Liyanapathiranage and Arosh Janoda helped the visitors post a reasonable first innings total. Janoda top scored with 80 off just 50 balls with 8 maximums and 4 fours. Lahiru Fernando bagged 6 wickets for the home side.

At stumps on Day 1, Bloomfield were 73 for 4 in 29 overs.

Dilshan Munaweera’s 191 helped CCC post a formidable 326 runs for their first innings against BRC at CCC grounds. Dilshan’s knock came off just 179 balls with 5 maximums and 21 boundaries. Apart from this splendid innings by Munaweera there isn’t much to speak about the rest of the batters. Wanindu Hasaranga was next best batsman for the side with 33 runs in the middle order. Dinuka Hettiarachchi bagged 6 wickets for BRC.

In reply at stumps, BRC were 56 for no loss in 14 overs.

A brilliant bowling performance by SSC saw them cleaning up Galle CC for just 128 in their first innings at Galle. The home side struggled from the beginning and it was only their skipper who managed to go past 20 runs. Skipper Dilhan Cooray scored a fighting knock of 50 runs but he received minimum support from his troops. Tharidu Ratnayake was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 25.

In reply at stumps on day 1, SSC were 121 for 1 in 30 overs with Minod Bhanuka unbeaten on 73.

Colts CC vs Ragama CC

A century stand for the 9th wicket between Akila Dhananjaya and Prabath Jayasuriya helped Colts reach 301 for 8 at stumps on day 1 in their match against Ragama CC at NCC grounds. Colts struggled early on but a century stand between Sadeera Samarawickrama and Vishad Randika helped them rebuild their innings. Vishad lost his wickets for 53 while Sadeera was dismissed 4 runs short of a deserving century. Colts lost a cluster of wickets afterwards but Akila and Prabath scored unbeaten half centuries to guide their team to the 300-run mark. With the ball for Ragama, Amila Aponsu bagged another 5-for.

Milinda Siriwardane’s century helped Saracens post 358 all out for their first innings against Army at Moors grounds. Milinda’s knock of 121 came off 198 balls with 4 sixes and 12 fours. The rest of the batters contributed around him with valuable cameos. For the Soldiers, Dushan Vimukthi and Viraj Pushpakumara bagged 3 wickets each.
