Sri Lankan racing sensation Yevan David etched his name in the history books by clinching the Rookie Championship title and finishing second overall in the 2025 Euroformula Open Championship — becoming the first Sri Lankan ever to achieve both feats.
The season concluded at the iconic Monza Circuit in Italy, where the 18-year-old showcased his exceptional pace and consistency. David secured a second-place finish in Race Two before storming to victory in Race Three, marking his sixth win of the season and sealing a memorable campaign.
Reflecting on his landmark achievement, David said: “Winning the last race of the season was incredible. Even without the overall title, being Vice and Rookie Champion is amazing. I’ve grown so much as a driver and a person. This is for everyone who supported me, especially my family.”
With his stellar performances in 2025, David has firmly established himself as one of Asia’s brightest young motorsport talents. His journey will now reach new heights as he prepares to become the first Sri Lankan driver to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, having signed with AIX Racing for the 2026 season.
David’s rise marks a significant milestone for Sri Lankan motorsport, inspiring a new generation of racers to chase their dreams on the global stage.
