World Rugby lifts ban on Sri Lanka Rugby

The World Rugby Council has lifted the temporary ban imposed on Sri Lanka Rugby, Ministry of Sports revealed today (4th November).

The Sports Ministry releasing a media statement said that Qais Al-Dhalai, President of Asia Rugby had communicated this to Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe during a meeting held in Dubai.

Al-Dhalai had informed the minister that the ban was lifted during a meeting held in Paris and the official announcement regarding the matter will be announced soon.

The World Rugby imposed the temporary ban on Sri Lanka Rugby on the 17th May as a result of the emergence of concerns regarding the governance of national rugby governing body and a breach of World Rugby laws relating to political interference.
