West Indies Women beat Sri Lanka Women by 33 runs yesterday at Dambulla to get a 2-1 win in their three-match ODI series.

 

After scoring 191 runs for nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs, the visiting team, the runner-up nation in this month’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, restricted Sri Lanka to 158 for nine in their 50 overs.

Tremayne Smartt took two for 26 for the Windies as only skipper Shashikala Siriwardene scored a sizeable individual score of 29 for the home team.

Earlier, sent in to bat first, late-order bat Shemaine Campbelle scored a 44-ball 37 to save her side from a disappointing spot of six for 106, in spite of Chamari Seneviratna’s four for 33 in ten overs. Campbelle won the player of the series award.
