The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has deemed ten Sri Lankan weightlifters eligible to take part in the 22nd Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held at Birmingham from the 28th July to the 8th August.
The selections have been made considering performances of lifters between 01st of January 2021 to 28th February 2022. Sri Lankan lifters managed to earn their qualification with good outings at Commonwealth weightlifting championship which was held in December last year in Uzbekistan and the Asian qualification event which was held last month in Singapore.

Weightlifting team for the Commonwealth Games will consist of 3 former Commonwealth medalists in Chinthana Vithanage, Indika Dissanayake and Chathuranga Lakmal Jayasuriya. This will be Vithanage’s 5th consecutive Commonwealth Games. Sri Lankan team will consist of 4 female and 6 male competitors.

- Thilanka Viraj Palangasinghe – Under 61Kg
- Chathuranga Lakmal Jayasuriya – Under 67Kg
- Indika Dissanayake – Under 73kg
- Chinthana Vidanage – Under 81Kg
- Ushan Vidanapatirana – Over 109 Kg
