Wayamba Men and Western Women fighters Claim NSF Taekwondo Championships with commanding performances

The Taekwondo fights of the 49th National Sports Festival, which was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the collaboration of the Department of Sports Development, concluded successfully at the Royal MAS Indoor Sports Complex, Colombo 07. After an action-packed tournament, the North Western Province men and Western Province women showcased their fighting power and endurance on the fighting mat to secure the championships from the respective categories.

The overall championship went to the Western Province who secured a medal bag of 05 gold and 02 bronze medals. Further, wrestlers from North Western and Central Provinces displayed their skill and courage to secure the overall second and third places respectively.

Representing North Western (Wayamba) Province

Representing North Western (Wayamba) Province, H. A. A. Madhuka emerged as the most outstanding male player of the event while M. A. S. R. Senarathna of (Wayamba) North Western Province had the same honours in the women’s category.
