Liverpool hold off Leicester after error

Liverpool held their nerve to defeat Leicester City 2-1 at the King Power Stadium

It was Tottenham who took the game to the host Watford in the early part of the first half. Despite having majority of the possession spurs was unable to breakdown a gritty Watford defence.

In the 12th minute Dele Alli header from the center of the box was close, but missed the top left corner.

Then on the other side Troy Deeney sent a header high from a similar position in the 18th minute.

Last week’s hero Luca Moura then had a chance from a corner only for his shot to be wide off the right peg.

There were no clear cut chances for both teams in a cagey first half.

After the break Christian Eriksen got a couple of chances to break the deadlock. Unfortunately it was Doucoure’s own goal which helped Spurs to go one up.

In the 69th minute José Holebas sent in a delicious cross which was met by Troy Deeney to level it for the boys in Yellow.

Once again José Holebas turned provider with another sumptuous cross this time for Craig Cathcart to head in the winner.

Fernando Llorente replaced Toby Alderweireld with ten minutes to go to give Spurs an attacking option, however Watford held on to register their 4th win in as many matches to be third in the table with the big boys.
