Visad Randika and Minhaj Jalil shines for Colombo Vikings

Isipathanian Visad Randika and Thurstanite Minhaj Jalil performed exceptionally well for Colombo Vikings in their drawn under 21 inter zonal tournament match against Colombo Hawks which concluded at BRC grounds on Thursday. 

Colombo Vikings led by Kavindu Kulasekara won the toss and elected to bat first. The Vikings in their first innings amassed a massive 320 for 8 in their allotted 60 overs. Isipathana wicket-keeper batsman Visad Randika top scored with a brilliant 90 runs while Thurstanite top-order batsman Minhaj Jalil smashed a superb 57. Nalanda duo of Woshantha Silva and left-handed Pramud Hettiwatta chipped in with 43 and 25 runs respectively. Sri Lanka A team left-arm seamer and Colombo Hawks skipper Binura Fernando took 2 scalps while Peterite seamer,Janith Liyanage and Royal left-arm spinner Devind Pathmanathan captured 2 wickets apiece. 

Colombo Hawks in their reply were all at sea as they were bowled out for only 124 runs. DS Senanayake skipper Harith Maduwantha made 36 while Peterite opener Dineth Thimodya stroked a quick-fire 32. Madushan Sameera grabbed 3 wickets while off-spinning twins, Malinga De Silva and Minhaj Jalil shared 2 wickets apiece. 

The Vikings enforced the follow-on at the latter stages of day 2. The Hawks made a blistering 105 for the loss of 4 wickets in just 16 overs. Binura Fernando smashed 38 runs while Akeel Inham and Dineth Thimodya contributed with 26 and 22 respectively. Minhaj Jalil once again showed his prowess with the ball taking 2 wickets.
