The Kingswood College table tennis team recently organized a Central Province Table Tennis Open Championship which was worked off on the 5th & 6th of September 2015. The tournament ended up in a high note at the Doluwa Table Tennis International Table tennis facility.
A participant count of more than 500 Players from 30 schools of Central hills took part in reserving their places at the Championships that had age groups of age groups under 10, 12, 15 &18.
The highlight of the day was the open category in the tournament where the top players booked their places. The tournament also accented on the junior kids with segments for little children which was participated in with much enthusiasm and was greatly encouraging for the sport.
Vidyartha College that has shown a penchant for the sport ran away with the boys U 18 A division while Trinity College were the runners up. In the girls segment while Mahamaya took the championship while Girls High School had to take second.
The principal of Kingswood College Mr.P.G.S Bandara was pleased with the success of the tournament and mentioned in his conversation with Thepapare.com. He also mentioned it was a rehearsal for an All island tournament to come up in 2016 for the 125th celebrations of Kingswood College.
