The game tipped off with a massive three pointer from Athapaththu for Moratuwa, as Leon Fambeck started the score sheet with a two-point play for Colombo. It was rather a one-sided affair for UOM as the Mora boys concentrated on their defensive strategy towards their opponents. University of Colombo played an intensive game in the maiden quarter, whereas UOM was struggling to find their pace.

The Mora boys started their second half with a clear mindset, dominating both defensive and offensive rebounds which led them to get a double figure lead in that quarter. The game moved to a fast-paced situation, as both parties were energetic. Athapaththu kept his scoring rate throughout the game, giving an unreachable lead for UOM. Dumindu Muthukumarage helped UOC to put pressure on the Mora boys.

After getting a comfortable lead, th moratuwa players made sure that they kept their momentum throughout the rest of the game to grab the win in their favor.
