Uhana Thissapura Vidyalaya, Ampara and St.Xavier’s College, Marawila won the U15 girls’ & boys’ championships respectively in the 17th DSI Supersport Schools’ Volleyball Championship.
U15 Girls
Uhana Thissapura Vidyalaya defeated Vijayaba National School, Hungama 3-0 to win the U15 Girls’ Championship.
In the semi-finals Vijayaba National School defeated Shri Rathanapala Maha Vidyalaya, Mahauswewa 25-11 & 25-22 while Uhana Thissapura Vidyalaya defeated Maliyadeva Adarsha Kanishta Vidyalaya, Kurunegala 25-18 & 25-8.
Uhana Thissapura won the 1st comfortably, 25-16. However, Vijayaba National School fought valiantly in the 2nd set but it was Uhana Thissapura who won that set again 26-24. Thissapura secured the championship winning the 3rd set 25-20.

U15 Boys
St.Xavier’s College, Marawila defeated Rajasinghe Central College, Ruwanwella 3-1 to win the U15 Boys’ Championship.
In the semi-final, St.Xavier’s College defeated Kuruwamulla Maha Vidyalaya 2-1. The scores read 29-27, 21-25 & 25-18. Rajasinghe College defeated Dammissara MMV with relative ease, 25-12 & 25-21 in the other semi-final.
Rajasinghe Central won the 1st set 19-25 but St.Xavier’s responded winning the 2nd set with the identical score line. The 3rd set was a close one but it was St.Xavier’s who took the upper hand winning it 25-23. Needing to win the 4th set Rajasinghe Central gave a good fight but fell agonizingly short, giving the championship to St.Xavier’s College.
