UFC star Conor McGregor possesses the perfect package to cross over into WWE, Paul Michael Levesque, AKA Triple H, has told The Telegraph.

Wrestling legend Levesque was ringside at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night to witness McGregor make history when the Irishman defeated lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez inside two rounds.

When questioned over whether McGregor could make a crossover appearance, Levesque, VP of Talent at WWE and a legendary star of the promotion, was in no doubt: “He could come over, he’s got it all, man – he’s got the personality, the skills, the talk. He’s an entertainer, for sure.

“What does he walk around at? 180lbs? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200lb guys who are stars. You don’t need to be 300lbs any more.”

The appearance of Triple H in New York fuels speculation over McGregor’s pre-fight talk that he had major announcements to make. But asked if he was on a scouting mission, Levesque said: “If his announcement has anything to do with WWE, then it’s news to me.

“But yeah, he could do just as well as Floyd Mayweather when he fought the Big Show. That really worked. Conor could do it for sure.”

Mayweather fought the Big Show at the height of his popularity in 2008 in what ended up being a huge pay per view success.

McGregor may yet consider doing the same and has consistently contested his payment and value to the UFC, as their greatest monetary star.

The Irishman said after his latest victory: “There’s a few bombshells I wanted to hit but I didn’t know whether to do it or not do it. I have a few announcements. I’m going to be a daddy early next year. I’m crapping my jocks. It’s going to mess up my head. I don’t want to be bringing a child into anything like this. I don’t want all this celebrity type shite. I hate all that. I don’t want my family to be like that. That’s a little thing in the back of my head. I’m going to have this baby, take a bit of time and see how I feel after that. And that’s it.”

McGregor sits in a powerful position and a huge, money-spinning appearance in the WWE would not be out of the question.

“They’ve (The UFC) got to come and talk to me now. No one has come and talked to me since the sale has happened,” he said, in reference to the $4 billion dollar sale of the UFC this summer.

“As a businessman. I’ve been approached with a hello and that type of stuff, but I’ve earnt… who owns the company now? People have shares in the company, celebrities… Conan O’Brien owns the UFC nowadays. Where’s my share? Where’s my equity?

“If I’m the one who is bringing this… they’ve got to come and talk to me now. I’ve got both belts, a chunk of money, a little family on the way. Do you want me to stick around and keep doing what I’m doing? Let’s talk. But I want ownership now. I want an equal share. I want what I deserve and what I’ve earnt.”

He added: “That list that Lorenzo Fertitta (the former majority owner of the UFC) compiled to show the new owners was the gospel right there. That’s proof of what I bring. If you want me to stick around and help service that debt and continue to push the company, bring me onboard for real. Not just as this. I need to be set for life with this. I need to be all in on this, proper, as an owner. That’s what I’m looking for.”
