The U23 Emerging Club Cricket Tournament 2025 kicked off with a thrilling display of talent across Sri Lanka, as Chilaw Marians Cricket Club, Badureliya Cricket Club, and Colts Cricket Club secured commanding victories in their opening games. While these three teams dominated their opponents, the remaining eight matches played at various venues across the island concluded in draws, setting an exciting tone for the tournament.
Chilaw Marians Cricket Club delivered a clinical performance to outclass Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club in a one-sided affair. The batting heroics of Darshaka Sandeep (131) and Sakuna Liyanage (111) powered Chilaw Marians to a formidable total.

On the bowling front, Thimira Irushika and Melan Hansaka were the stars, dismantling the Navy’s batting lineup with devastating spells. Irushika’s fiery 6 for 35 and Hansaka’s remarkable 7 for 65 ensured Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club had no answer, collapsing under pressure and handing Chilaw Marians a comprehensive win.
Badureliya Cricket Club showcased their dominance with a 9-wicket thrashing of United Southern Sports Club, thanks to a collective team effort.
Shehan Madusanka (61), Kavishka Imesh (57), Shanikya Deshapriya (50) set the foundation with impressive half-centuries, but star of the match was Brian Hansaja, whose exceptional bowling performance turned the game in Badureliya’s favor. Hansaja’s match haul of 8 wickets for 121 runs decimated United Southern’s batting lineup, setting the stage for Badureliya’s emphatic win.
Colts Cricket Club put on a masterclass against Leo Cricket Club, securing a 9-wicket victory driven by a stellar all-round performance.
Randunu Ganganath led the charge with a magnificent century – 128* (186). The foundation for the win was laid by Colts’ bowlers, with Ryan Dissanayake (5 for 34) and Praveen Maneesha (5 for 36) delivering incisive spells.
