The SLC U23 Emerging Club Tournament 2025 delivered a thrilling day of cricket on September 4, 2025, with United Southern Sports Club and Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club securing standout victories, while six other matches concluded as draws.
At Panagoda, United Southern Sports Club registered a commanding victory over Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in their two-day encounter. The hero of the match was Sasanka Nirmal, whose exceptional bowling performance yielded a match haul of 8 wickets for 99 runs. Complementing Nirmal’s heroics was Sithuka Gunawardana, who delivered a devastating spell in the second innings, claiming 5 wickets for just 9 runs.

In a gripping encounter at Bloomfield Grounds, Colombo, Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club clinched a dramatic one-wicket victory over Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club.
Mevan Dissanayake emerged as the architect of this thrilling win, delivering a match-defining performance with a haul of 12 wickets for 106 runs across both innings. Despite a valiant effort from Bloomfield’s Tharinda Nirmal Guruge, who claimed an impressive 11 wickets in the match, Tamil Union held their nerve to chase down the target, showcasing resilience and skill in a high-stakes finish.
While United Southern SC and Tamil Union C & AC stole the headlines with their victories, six other matches in the tournament ended in draws, but not without their share of standout performances. Negombo Cricket Club’s Kaveen Fernando led the batting charts with a scintillating 167 off 179 balls, smashing 19 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 93.30.
