Despite the weather challenges, standout performances from both bat and ball illuminated the day, with Dilana Damsara of Chilaw Marians Cricket Club and Sineth Jayawardena of Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club stealing the spotlight with magnificent centuries.
Damsara played a composed and unbeaten knock of 102 runs off 140 balls. His innings, laced with 12 fours and 4 sixes, demonstrated a blend of patience and aggression, anchoring his team’s effort in testing conditions.
On the other hand, Jayawardena unleashed a blistering 100 runs off just 61 balls. His explosive innings featured 8 fours and 8 sixes, reflecting an aggressive approach that thrilled spectators and dismantled the opposition bowling attack.
While the batters grabbed headlines, the bowlers were equally dominant, with several players delivering remarkable performances despite the rain-curtailed matches.
Wanuja Sahan of Ace Capital Cricket Club continued his impressive form with the ball, claiming a sensational 6-wicket haul against United Southern Sports Club.
Joining Sahan in the five-wicket club were Nuwan Dineth of Sebastianites Cricket & Athletic Club, Gishan Balasooriya of Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), Dulaj Samuditha of Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club, and Sasanka Nirmal of United Southern Sports Club.
