U23 Cricket (Division 2) – BRC, Army and Kurunegala Youth register first-innings wins

The under 23 division two segment matches commenced on August 8th and Burgher Recreation Club, Army Sports Club and Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club managed to get first-innings points in their respective two-day encounters. 

  

BRC vs Old Dharmapalians

Skipper Bhagya Palihawadana’s gallant ton helped BRC record a convincing first innings win in their drawn encounter against Old Dharmapalians Sports Club during the weekend at BRC grounds. 

BRC – 316 all out in 62.1 overs. Bhagya Palihawadana 101, Javed Bongso 78, Moditha Weerasinghe 27, Jeson Buultjens 26, Lahiru Kushan 26, Nishan Perera 4/69, Sahan Perera 2/74.

Old Dharmapalians – 185 all out in 68.3 overs: Ashan Udara 46, Ravindu Lakshan 24, Yasith Lakshitha 24, Madumal Weerasinghe 24, Thilan Gunarathne 23, Tharindu Roshan 20*,Damith Weerasinghe 3/08, Moditha Weerasinghe 2/43, Kaminda Perera 2/45.

Army vs Chilaw Marians

Clinical Army SC registered a morale-boosting first innings win over the fancied Chilaw Marians outfit at Katunayake.

Nalin Perera and Dilshan De Zoysa excelled for the Soldiers while Thikshila De Silva performed with both bat and ball for Chilaw Marians. 

Army – 224 all out in 86.5 overs: Nalin Perera 73*, Dilshan De Zoysa 51, Krishen Aponso 38, Thikshila De Silva 4/58, Nazril Rahman 3/27.

Kurunegala YCC vs Kurunegala SC

Pandula Udupihilla’s magnificent century helped Kurungeala Youth Cricket Club to record a first-innings win over their hometown arch-rivals Kurunegala Sports Club in their drawn match played at Welegedara stadium. 

KYCC – 275/9 declared in 81 overs: Pandula Udupihilla 100, Tharuka Rajaguru 45, Dimantha F’do 32, Damith Perera 24, Namal Perera 3/81, Akila Dammika 2/33, Ruchika Pupulewatta 2/49.
