The 16th Battle of the Golds between Mahanama College and D.S. Senanayake College ended in a draw today (23rd April), at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.
D.S. Senanayake College resumed their first innings on day two at 2/0 and went on to post 173 runs all-out, with Hirusha Piyumal top-scoring with 76 runs. Devindu Kekirideniya (4/76) and Duvindu Ranathunga (3/44) were the star performers with the ball for Mahanama College.
After being asked to follow on, D.S. Senanayake College once again struggled with the bat as they posted 107/6 at the close of play on day two. Kekirideniya stood out with the ball again for Mahanama College, taking 3 scalps for 31 runs.
Meanwhile, the 53rd Battle of the Blues between Dharmasoka College and Sri Devanada College commenced today at UC Grounds, Ambalangoda. Sri Devananda College were on top at the end of first day’s play as they managed to post 255/7 in reply to Dharmasoka’s 204 runs for their first innings.
Two more traditional encounters were also played today at Colombo. Royal College and Ananda College managed to take first innings honors in the two traditional games against St. Benedict’s College and St. Joseph’s College respectively.
