Five traditional encounters of the U19 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (26th November) at several venues across the island.
S. Thomas’ College registered an innings win over Mahinda College in their traditional encounter worked off today at Mount Lavinia. Romesh Mendis who stroked a brilliant century and Charuka Peiris who picked up a match of 10 wickets for 87 runs were the chief architects of the Thomian victory.
St. Aloysius College registered a comprehensive 8-wicket win over Rahula College in their traditional encounter which was played today at Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara. Dineth Nimsara (84) and Hasitha Suranga (54) led the charge with the bat for victorious St. Aloysius College while Induwara Udena and Maneth Yeran starred with the ball.
The all-round skills of Dasis Manchanayake (Royal College) and Gayana Weerasinghe (Maliyadeva College) stole the limelight in the drawn traditional encounter between Royal College and Maliyadeva College worked off today at Colombo.
Manchanayake who scored a brilliant century with the bat managed to pick up 4 wickets with the ball which helped Royal College take first–innings honors. Gayana Weerasinghe in the opposition camp also displayed a similar performance with bat and ball as he scored a century and half-century in the two innings while claiming a 4-wicket haul with the ball.
