Five matches of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Two Day Cricket Tournament 2019/20 were played today, 12th February 2020 across the island.
De Mazenod College managed to take first-innings points against St. Benedict’s College in the drawn encounter thanks to the performances of Saliya Jude (62), Senash Fernando (63) and Sithum Fernando (4/33). Wesley College took the first innings points against St. Joseph Vaz College in the drawn encounter. Thenuka Perera (3/06) and Buddhima Wijesundara (52) were the star performers of this encounter.
Thurstan College managed to take honors in the drawn traditional encounter against Prince of Wales College. Sanuth Nandinu of Thurstan College stroked a classy century (102*) while Cambrian batsman Kavinda De Mel starred with the bat scoring 83 runs. Vihas Thewmika of Thurstan College was the star performer with the ball as he managed to take a match bag of 10 wickets against Prince of Wales College.
In addition to these, two other encounters (Dharmaraja College vs Dharmapala College and Moratu Maha Vidyalaya vs Maris Stella College) commenced today at Kandy and Moratuwa.
