Mahanama College, Colombo, and Devapathiraja College, Rathgama, have secured their spots in the final of the U17 Inter-Schools Division 1 Cricket Tournament 2025 after impressive victories in their respective semi-finals.
In the first semi-final at Salawa Army Camp Grounds, Kosgama, Devapathiraja College delivered a dominant performance, defeating Nalanda College by 7 wickets.
Opting to bat first in the 50-over match, Nalanda College struggled against Devapathiraja’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for a mere 102 runs.
Arosha Sithumina, Puljith Wathsuka, Harsha Madushanka, and Sandaru Malshan each claimed two wickets to dismantle Nalanda’s batting lineup.
In response, Devapathiraja College chased down the target with ease in just 21.1 overs, losing only one wicket. Arosha Sithumina led the charge with an unbeaten 58 off 54 balls, including 7 fours and a six, guiding his team to a commanding victory.
In the second semi-final at Sri Lanka Army Sinha Regiment Ground, Ambepussa, Mahanama College secured a comfortable win over Royal College in a rain-affected 44-over contest.
Royal College, asked to bat first, managed only 144 runs in their allotted overs, with Thaviru Perera starring for Mahanama, taking 3 wickets for just 15 runs. Mahanama College chased down the target in 38 overs with five wickets in hand, led by Kaushika Thilakarathe’s composed 53 off 67 balls, which included 9 fours.
