Royal College, Colombo emerged champions of U15 Division 2 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament 2023 as they defeated St. Peter’s College (on first innings points) in the Final of the tournament, played today (14th August) at D. S. Senanayake College Grounds, Colombo.

After winning the toss, Royal College elected to bat first. However, they were unable to get off to a good start with the bat as they lost the first 3 wickets for 56 runs.

Royal managed to revive their innings thanks to two half-century stands built by their middle order batters. Chenuka Maranthota and Dhisas Nanayakkarawasam added 60 runs for the 4th wicket, which was followed by 65-run stand between Maranthota and Javeeth Perera.

Royal College posted 189 runs for 5 wickets in 54 overs before declaring their innings. In reply, The St. Peter’s batters had a terrible time with the bat against the Royal bowlers as they were restricted to just 112 runs.

The Royal bowlers displayed a brilliant collective bowling effort led by Dinuja Wellahewage and Sandul Abeywardena, who picked up 2 wickets each.
