The finals of the “Milo” Under 18 fifteen a side rugby tournament is to be worked off on Sunday the 14th of September 2014 at the Royla College Sports complex commencing at 2 pm.

The grueling tournament which displayed some quality rugby over the last few weeks has come to the final stages and will be completed in Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield segments.

St. Peters College, Colombo who played some exciting rugby have made their way to the finals and will face off against Science College, Mt. Lavinia who equally matched their contenders to reach the finals. St. Peters won a closely competed match against S. Thomas’ College 16 points to 12 while Science college massacred Thurstan College 27 nil on their way to the top.  Thus the Cup final will be a sterling contest between St Peter’s College and Science College Mt Lavinia

In the Plate finals schools rugby giants; Isipathana College will take on the Lions from the hill; Trinity College, Kandy. The mean green men beat St. Anthony’s college, Kandy 31 nil while the Trinitians were patchy winning against Thurstan College 43 – 00 but disappointed against St. Josephs College, losing 18 points to 12.

The Bowl finals will be played out by Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa and Vidhyartha College, Kandy while DS Senanayake College will face Dharmaraja College, Kandy in the Shield stage final.

An interesting point in this tournament is the performance of the Kandy Schools, 3 out of 4 schools making it to the finals. Trinity College, Vidyartha College and Dharmaraja College seems to be nurturing some young talent which in future will no doubt exhibit themselves in 1st XV sides.

The finals are scheduled to start at 2 in the afternoon with the Shield final followed by the Bowl, Plate and Cup finals to be played at 3, 4 and 5 in the evening respectively at the Royal College Sports Complex.
