Trinity’s offensive pressure intensified quickly. Following a period of sustained territory, Udan Wijekoon executed a clinical cut-out pass that bypassed the defense, finding Ammar Faizal on the wing for the afternoon’s first try. (TCK 08 – 00 LCC) The momentum stayed firmly with the Kandy side as Nisith Kumarasinghe sparked a break that took Trinity deep into the 22-meter line. From the ensuing phase, Evin Jayasena powered over to extend the lead. (TCK 13 – 00 LCC)
Dimath Ambepitiya soon added to the tally, showcasing his agility by stepping inside the defense to touch down in the corner. (TCK 18 – 00 LCC) Faizal added the extras with a well-measured conversion to keep the scoreboard ticking. (TCK 20 – 00 LCC) Shortly after reaching the 20-point mark, Trinity thought they had crossed the whitewash again through Evin Jayasena, but the Referee disallowed the try, ruling that Jayasena’s knee had touched the ground before the grounding.
Lumbini managed to strike back late in the half. Exploiting a Trinity high kick, Sahan Prabuddha collected the ball and sparked a counter-attack. After a lateral dash, the ball moved to the fly-half, who managed a desperate offload to Captain Sachintha Induwara to score in the corner. (TCK 20 – 05 LCC)

With the score at 32, Hamza Abdeen provided a moment of déjà vu for the Pallekele faithful.
