Trinity come from behind to claim victory

Wesley College came close to recording their first win of their season but a valiant Trinity comeback saw them immerge victorious (by 3 wickets) even though they lost the first innings of the match.

Trinity College won the toss and elected to field on a bowler friendly track at the Bloomfield grounds in Colombo.

Displaying a good bowling effort, Trinity managed to restrict Wesley for a low 166 in 78.1 overs. Reshana Senavirathne top scored with 38 runs for Wesley while Duvindu Thilakarathne picked 4 for 44 and Raveen Sayer bagged 3 for 59.

Wesley College displayed some magnificent bowling as they rung-out Trinity for just 89 runs in 31.3 overs. Hasitha Boyagoda top scored for Trinity with 35 runs. Andrew Prayes was the star with the ball as he picked 6 for 40 and Helitha Bambarenda chipped in with 3 for 8.

The Wesley second innings was a flop as they could only manage 76 in 26.5 overs. Raveen Sayer was the pick of the bowlers for Trinity as he scalped 5 for 19 while S Shanogeeth bagged 3 for 29. Helitha Bambarenda top scored for Wesley with 23 and set a moderate target of 154 for Trinity College.

Trinity College were made to work hard to achieve their target but their batting in came good in the second innings as they managed to reach the target of 155 in 40 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Arjuna Jayasinghe top scored with 47 for Trinity and Kaveen Hiniduma help with 44. Kesara Senavirathna picked 4 for 55 for Wesley while Charith De Silva managed 2 for 24.
