The 26-year old Sri Lankan fast-bowling all-rounder Thisara Perera has decided to retire from Test cricket after he handed over a letter to Sri Lanka Cricket on Monday.

A high-profile source at SLC who wished to stay anonymous confirmed the move to ThePapare.com. The aggressive fast-bowler from St. Joseph’s College made his Test debut in 2011 against England in Cardiff while he played his last Test way back in 2012 against Pakistan.

Perera has played only 6 Tests so far in his career and has made 203 runs with an average just above 20 and with the ball, he has captured only 11 wickets.

The big all-rounder was rumored to be retiring in 2014 when he opted out of the Sri Lanka ‘A’ tour of England and Ireland but the rumors were found to be wrong yet he was not selected to the five-day format.

Recently, Thisara has also been short of form in the limited-overs formats but he has committed to SLC that he will be available for selection for the ODIs and T20s.

However an official confirmation has not yet been given by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) related to this matter.
