The Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers Association held it’s first-ever awards night and 15th anniversary celebration at a gala event held at Sasakawa Hall in Colombo last Friday.

Sri Lanka’s first Test cricket captain Bandula Warnapura was the chief guest while former Sri Lanka cricket captain T.M. Dilshan graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The official website of the Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers, www.slcscorers.com was launched by Dilshan.

Since its inception in 2001 with a handful of members, the Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers have grown into a one big organization accomplishing an integral role beyond the boundary ropes.

Fazal Mohamed, who is a leading scorer from the Moors Sports Club with vast experience of scoring at schools, clubs and international level bagged the Best Scorer award while Thushara Cooray, who also has immense experience scoring at all levels, won the Most Popular Scorer award and was also rewarded with a special award for his services for more than three decades and scoring more than 300 international matches in the press box. Sumith Guanawardena won two awards, the Best Disciplined Scorer and the Scorer of the Year.

Long standing members of Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers, A Francke, F.M. Jayawardena and Anura Ratnayake along with Ajith C.S. Perera, Asoka de Silva and D.A.S. Dissanayake were bestowed with life membership for their tireless efforts and contributions for the development of the Sri Lankan Cricket Scorers.

“Our aim is to do live online scoring from any ground by 2020. At the moment we have nearly 300 scorers in different capacities, 118 full members and around 200 affiliated and non-affiliated members” President of SLCS, Chaminda De Silva reiterated their plans for the future.
