Thailand too fast for Kazakhs!

Speedy Thai’s notch up impressive win against Kazakhs to sound warning to Asian contenders.

Kazakhstan on paper,at the beginning of the Asian 5 Nations tournament, were joint favorites along with hosts Sri Lanka. But they were to face a new threat in their very first encounter having to bite the dust with a surprise package from a fiery Thailand outfit. 

The Thai’s were putting up a fight from the work go and were the ones to get the first point on the board via a WarongkornKhamkoet penalty. The Kazakhs nevertheless were not going to make things easy for their opposition as they held fort and attempted to breach the Thai defense to no avail. 

It was in the 32nd minute of the game off a Kazakh scrum Full back Warongkorn picked up loose ball and sprinted 80 meters defying the opposition defense to carry the ball to 5 metere within the goal line. It was good back up which saw the ball being secured and worked down using the overlap to good effect seeing Center SirichaiDaothaisong going under the post. Warongkorn taking the easy conversion took the score to 10 nothing to the surprise of the opposition. 

The challengers then had the opportunity to extend the lead from a 40 meter penalty but were not successful. Just on the half though they did manage to do just that as a solitary effort by winger TopongBoonlon snaked his way through to score displaying some awesome pace. The Warongkorn penalty coming good the yellow jersey’s took a heartening lead to the break 17 nothing. 

The Thailand outfit was not about to let their lead get away as they got on the board first in the second half as well with a penalty courtesy Warongkorn taking the score to 20 nil. The Thai’s continued on their run with Winger PichitYingcharoen going over with some individual brilliance, conversion going through saw the Kazakhs in trouble with the score reading 27 nothing in favour of the opposition. 

Kazakhstan finally got their first points on the board in the 20th minute, with their renowned brand of physical forward play resulting in a push over try at the right corner. The difficult conversion going astray the scores read 27-5.

With only a quarter left in game Kazakhstan had to pick their socks up quite some if they were to get back into the game and take it home. But this was not to be the case as Warongkorn had other ideas, him slotting in 2 penalties in the 27th and 32nd minutes of the second half taking the game away from Kazakhstan. 

Thailand displayed a dazzling brand of rugby with their line looking immaculate and dangerous, piercing and gaining ground at every given opportunity and took the opposition totally by surprise. Their go to players was Full Back Warongkorn and the Wingers who didn’t disappoint at any given time with ball in hand. The yellow jerseys having sounder warning in the Asian 5 Nations tournament will be looking to continue their form in Wednesday’sall-importantencounter against hosts Sri Lanka.
