Tajikistan Player Provisionally Suspended for Doping Violation at the Asian Games

The AFC Disciplinary Committee has today provisionally suspended Khurshed Beknazarov of Tajikistan for committing an anti-doping rule violation following the doping control conducted by the Olympic Council of Asia at the 17th Asian Games, Incheon 2014, Korea.

Beknazarov tested positive for Methylhexaneamine after the match against Singapore on September 14. Methylexaneamine is a specified substance pursuant to the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List 2014. The OCA Medical Committee & Anti-Doping Commission on September 23 subsequently disqualified Beknazarov from the Asian Games 2014 in accordance with the OCA Anti-Doping Rules 2009.

The provisional suspension of the AFC Disciplinary Committee was issued in accordance with Article 78 of the AFC Disciplinary Code read together with Article 36 of the AFC Anti-Doping Regulations.

Beknazarov is now banned from taking part in any football-related activity for 30 days. This can be further extended by 20 days. The matter will subsequently be decided at the next meeting of the AFC Disciplinary Committee. The Tajikistan Football Federation has been notified of this decision.
