The tag rugby tournament organised by the travel trade sports club was held on the twenty fifth October at Mount Lavina Beach.
Thirteen teams played their rugby for seven minutes flat yet Cinnamon Lakeside and Walker`s tours ended up being declared Joint Champions in the Cup finals when both the sides failed to get the score board ticking when the clock struck full time.
The tournament commenced with the preliminary stages making the thirteen teams compete themselves to qualify for the Cup, Bowl, Plate categories. Cinnamon Grand A, Sri Lankan Air Lines, Green Holidays, Cinnamon Grand B, Kingsbury, Cinnamon Lake Side, Classic Travels A, Walkers Tours –A played in the Cup category.
Walkers tours B defeated Ramada five points to ten; to be crowned as the bowl champions while Cinnamon Grand B beat Classic Travels A to five points to ten; to be crowned as the plate champions of the tournament.
It was a head to head game of tag rugby between Cinnamon Grand A vs. Walkers Tours A for the cup finals. Witnessing excellent performances by both the sides, they were declared joint champions when both the sides fail to land the ball on the line during game time. The scoreboard read equal figures, zero all at full time.
Rameez Rafix was adjudged the best player in the cup category while Hiran Kumar and Shendra Fernando was judged best players in plate and bowl category respectively.
