St. Sebastian’s College win on 1st innings

St. Sebastian’s College beat S.Thomas’ College on first innings in their U-19 inter-school cricket match played at Mt. Lavinia today. At stumps on day two, St.Thomas’ were 112 for three in their second innings.

 

Resuming from their overnight score of 106 for three, St. Sebastian’s College scored 271, 49 runs more than what hosts made batting first under home conditions. After Luke Jayadeva with a run-a-ball 61 had given them an impressive start, Sachintha Fonseka made an unbeaten 54 off 64 balls with ten boundaries to help St. Sebastian’s gain first innings points. There were also useful contribution from Kusal Lakthilina (46), Muditha Fernando (38) and Avishka Fernando (23).

Madushan Ravichandrakumar was the pick of the bowler claiming three for 53 while Akthab Cader grabbed three wickets for 32 runs.

S. Thomas’ in their second essay however made a strong reply adding 112 runs for the loss of three wickets with Rashmika Opatha stroking a run-a-ball 57 with four boundaries and two sixes.
