Both teams went through some tough moments in overcoming their respective semifinal hurdles a couple of days ago at the same venue and are now determined to produce their best performance and lift the title.

The Peterites staged a superb second half rally to beat their arch rivals S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia by 16 points to 12 points after trailing 7-8 at the short whistle in the first semifinal encounter.

Science College Mount Lavinia had even a tough semifinal fixture as they struggled to beat a fighting St. Joseph’s College outfit 6-3 with both teams responding with penalties after a scoreless first half.

Even then St. Peter’s College will take the field brimming with confidence as they had the satisfaction of creating a major upset in the quarterfinals where they brought down the tournament favourites Isipathana College in a low scoring encounter.

In contrast Science College had an easy passage into the semifinals where they trounced Thurstan College by a convincing margin in their quarterfinal encounter.

Meanwhile Isipathana College will be hoping to make amends for their earlier setback when they take on Trinity College in the Place Championship final at the same venue which is scheduled to start at 4.00 p.m.
