Sri Lankan Women Succumb to South Africa

Despite drawing level on the series by winning the second match, the Sri Lanka women’ cricket team lost to the South African women in the final and 3rd match of the series conceding the series win to the home team.

Sri Lanka did well in the second match but in the third suffered a 5 wicket loss in South Africa yesterday.  Eshani Lokusuriya who has been a pinch hitter for the side on a number of occasions belted a 34 ball half century which included 7 fours and a massive six.  Captain Shashikala Siriwardena added 25 to the total when Sri Lanka folded at 108 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.

The visitors were hard pressed to defend the smallish total but came out all guns blazing Siriwardena scalped 4 for 21 and had South Africa in reeling at 5 for 46. However M du Preez  scoring 43 and S. Loubser 37 took South Africa to the finish with 10 balls to spare.
