The Sri Lankan Junior Roll Ball National outfit (Boys) emerged as the bronze medal winners at the Inaugural Roll Ball Junior World Cup, while the Indian teams secured both girls and boys championships. The tournament was held from April 14-22, 2025, at the prestigious Kasarani Indoor Arena and Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi, Kenya. In total, 6 teams for the Boys competition and 3 teams for the Girls competition participated, representing Sri Lanka, D. R. Congo, India, South Sudan, Tanzania and the hosts, Kenya.

The sport of Roll Ball, where roller skates, pads, and helmets are being used, hasn’t gotten much fame on the island yet. However, the local boys have proven that they have true spirit, and this victory can be considered as a testament to considering Sri Lanka as an emerging nation in the map of Roll Ball. Unfortunately, a Sri Lankan Girls team was not featured in the tournament due to unavoidable circumstances.

In the first game, Sri Lanka went down to the host (SL 00 – 03 Kenya), but only after showing a lot of spirit and courage. Then, the Lankan Lion cubs stood against the challenge from the Democratic Republic of the Congo side to clinch a 5 – 2 victory. That incredible win secures Sri Lanka a place in the Semi Finals, but against the inventor of the sport, India.

In the Semi Final, Sri Lanka had a great challenge from the giants of the world in Roll Ball, and the Indians booked their place in the Final with a thumping 21 – 00 victory.

Therefore, Sri Lanka battled against South Sudan for the bronze medal, and after a clinical performance, the Lankan lads clinched third place with a goal margin of 05 – 01.

While the strong Indian sides clinched the championships in both segments, the host also earned something to celebrate by securing both Runners-Up titles. The South Sudan Girls team clinched the bronze medal in the Girls category.
