Sri Lanka women qualify for World TT Championship

The Sri Lanka Women’s Table Tennis Team settled with a 15th place finish at the Asian Table Tennis Championship 2019 Yogyakarta-Indonesia.

The Sri Lanka women’s team has qualified to the next World Table Tennis Team Championship 2020 to be held in Busan, Korean. Sri Lankan paddlers performed considerably well at the ongoing Asian TT Championship snatching the 15th position while gearing up for the World TT Championship.

Sri Lanka Women’s team was led by Ishara Madurangi in the Asian TT Championship. She is an experienced campaigner who represented the country in this Championship. Bimandee Bandara, Erandi Warusawithana, Jithara Warnakulasuriya were other campaigners who represented Sri Lanka at the Asian TT Championship to bring glory to mother Lanka.

Road to the World TT Team Championship

  • Sri Lanka defeated Maldives (Group Stage)
  • Sri Lanka lost to Singapore (Group Stage)
  • Sri Lanka lost to Philippines (13 to 18 Positions)
  • Sri Lanka defeated Mongolia (13 to 18 Positions)
