Sri Lanka Women registered a comfortable win over Bangladesh Women in the first T20I of the three-match series played today (28th April) in Sylhet.

After being asked to bat first, Sri Lanka produced an impressive batting display to post a strong total of 161/4 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by in-form No. 3 Imesha Dulani, who continued her excellent run in Bangladesh with her third half-century of the tour, showcasing consistency and composure at the crease.

Providing the real momentum boost was Harshitha Samarawickrama, who delivered a scintillating knock of 61 off just 35 deliveries. Her innings, laced with five fours and two sixes, came at an outstanding strike rate of 174.28 and ensured Sri Lanka finished with a commanding total.

In response, Bangladesh Women struggled to keep up with the required rate and were restricted to 136/7 in their 20 overs. Shorna Akter fought valiantly with a well-crafted half-century — her maiden in T20I cricket — but lacked sufficient support from the other end.

Sri Lanka’s bowling unit delivered a disciplined performance, with skipper Chamari Athapaththu leading from the front alongside Malki Madara and Mithali Ayodhya. The trio picked up two wickets each, effectively stifling Bangladesh’s chase.
