Sri Lanka registered a comfortable victory over Nepal in their opening match of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025, played at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bowl first and produced a disciplined bowling performance to dismiss Nepal for just 82 runs. The Lankan bowlers applied constant pressure, never allowing the Nepal batters to settle.

Sethmika Seneviratne was the standout performer with the ball, running through the Nepal batting lineup to claim an impressive five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5 for 25. His spell proved decisive as Nepal struggled to build partnerships and were bundled out cheaply.

In reply, Sri Lanka faced an early setback, losing two wickets for 25 runs. However, opening batter Dimantha Mahavithana and middle-order batter Kavija Gamage steadied the innings with a composed and unbeaten 59-run partnership for the third wicket.

Mahavithana led the chase with a confident 39, while Gamage supported him well with 24, ensuring Sri Lanka crossed the target without further trouble. The chase was completed in just 14.5 overs, underlining Sri Lanka’s dominance in the contest.

Sri Lanka will next face Afghanistan on 15 December at the ICC Academy Grounds in Dubai, as they look to build on their strong start to the tournament.
