Sri Lanka registered a three-wicket win over India in the fourth match of Women’s Tri-Nation ODI Series 2025 played today (4th May) at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

After been asked to bat first, the Indian top-order laid out a nice platform and kept scoring at a steady pace. Sri Lanka managed to claim timely wickets, starting with the run-out of Smriti Mandhana who fell for just 18 runs in the powerplay.

The opening batter Pratika Rawal (35), the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (30) and Jemimah Rodrigues (37) all got starts but couldn’t convert them to something substantial.

With the platform set for take-off, Richa Ghosh got into her act and top-scored with a 48-ball 58. However, once she fell in the 44th over, the rest of India’s batting order failed to kick on and folded.

The Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu picked up two in an over to further dent India’s momentum. Athapaththu and Sugandika Kumari both picked up 3 wickets each for the hosts as they managed to restrict the visitors to 275.

Sri Lanka’s top order was also in good touch with the bat as they took control of the run-chase smoothly. Harshitha Samarawickrama batted superbly at number 3 for her 61-ball 53 to set it up.

Contributions came throughout the order – with the most vital one coming from Nilakshi de Silva who plundered a 33-ball 56 to set Sri Lanka on victory’s path.

De Silva put the pedal to the metal and struck boundaries at will to hunt down and surpass the asking rate before eventually falling. By then, the game was firmly in Sri Lanka’s grasp and both Anushka Sanjeewani and Sugandika Kumari ensured that they carried it through without fumbling.
