Sri Lanka managed an easy win over Group B opponents Chinese Taipei in their 2nd fixture of round 1 at the Asian Youth Netball Championships yesterday.

The team had never faced Chinese Taipei in the Netball arena previously, but were perhaps confident of winning after seeing their performance against India on Tuesday. With the win Sri Lanka rose to the top of Group B and will now move on to the Cup round alongside Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia all registered wins in their respective matches yesterday but the scorelines would suggest that the race for the Championship is between the top 3 teams: Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Those 3 teams, alongside hosts Hong Kong will now play in the Cup round while Japan, Chinese Taipei, Brunei and Thailand will play in the Plate round. Maldives, India, Abu Dhabi and Pakistan, who finished last in their respective groups will battle it out for the Bowl championship.

Sri Lanka will face their sternest test of the competition when they play Malaysia later today.
