Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a strong 15-man squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India from 20th to 24th December.

Is Malinga past his prime?

One of the greatest death over bowlers that world cricket has seen, Lasith Malinga is now struggling to find a spot in the playing squad. Will it be curtains…

The biggest surprise from the squad led by all-rounder Thisara Perera is the omission of experienced fast bowler Lasith Malinga who has been rested according to a SLC press communique.

Malinga last played for Sri Lanka against India at home in a one-off T20I before being overlooked for the Pakistan ODIs and T20Is. Leading up to the current Indian tour, Malinga represented the champions, Rangpur Riders in 8 matches during the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

From the current ODI squad, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dhananjaya De Silva and Suranga Lakmal will not feature for the T20Is as they have been replaced by Dasun Shanaka and left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando.
