Coming in as an opening batsman, Dean Elgar fought his way to an invaluable 129 runs off 362 balls to take South Africa to 392 in their 1st innings.

3 A maiden 5 wicket haul for Lahiru Kumara

Vernon Philander was Lahiru Kumara’s fifth victim as the new kid on the block got his maiden five-wicket haul. He dismissed Kagiso Rabada next to register innings figures of 6/122.

4 Rangana Herath stood up with the bat

After Sri Lanka were given a total of 507 runs to chase in the second innings, Herath scored an unbeaten 35 runs and was also the second highest run scorer for the side.

5 Dhananjaya De Silva’s run out

Temba Bavuma was a little too late to cross the crease as Dhananjaya De Silva’s strike at the wickets saw Bavuma walking back to the dressing room for a duck in the second innings.
