Ahead of the Asia Under 20 Sevens Series that is set to kick off mid-August, the newly appointed national selectors for Sri Lanka Rugby have finalized a 36-member squad for training as Sri Lanka look at the Asia under 20 title.

The Asia Under 20 Series is the main junior tournament played in the Asian circuit and Sri Lanka has emerged as champions in 2016 and runners-up 2017. The under 20 tournament, provides the opportunity for players who represented their respective schools in 2017 also to participate.

Following the conclusion of the schools’ rugby league, the key performers throughout the season have caught the eye of the selectors while the key performers from the concluded Dialog Inter Club 7’s who fall within the age limit have also been shortlisted.

Champion coach to take charge of Sri Lanka U20 7s

Nilfer Ibrahim, coach of the newly crowned Inter School Under 19 Sevens champions…..

Training for the tournament will commence shortly as sevens winning coach Nilfer Ibrahim will look at succeeding the success story of Sudath Sampath who coached the juniors in the past two years.
